Parent Responsibility
The following will help to make practice easier:
~Make a scheduled time to practice each day.

~For very young beginners practice for only a few minutes at different times throughout the day.
~Designate a space for practice.
~Turn off cell phones and television. Tell family members that you will be busy for a certain amount of time. Give full attention to the practice.

~Take your time, don’t rush, be patient.
~Smile, laugh, have fun.

~Let the child choose what to practice sometimes (guide the practice, but give choices as to what the child wishes to do first).
~Play Games
~Review recording or notes taken
~Offer small rewards (stickers, etc.)
~Clap when your child bows (at the beginning and end of lesson)
Agreement Before Lessons Begin

I have time in my daily schedule to practice with my child.
I will play the recordings at various times throughout the day (mealtime, bath time, playtime, homework, story time, car trips, cooking time, etc).
I will make time to read and reflect upon the Suzuki materials/book/excerpt.
I will record or take notes at each lesson, so that we can review at home.
I will remain patient when my child does not want to practice, and will use games and give choices as incentives to play. I will be persistent, will not give up and I will keep our practice time sacred.
I will remember to smile and find positive things to say.
I will purchase or reimburse the teacher for required materials listed on the policy.
I will come to lessons on time each week (excluding illness) and pay a monthly check at the beginning of the month.
